I received an advanced copy of this book for free from the publisher in exchange of an honest review. This in no way affects my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
It was only a couple of weeks ago that I decided to finally read Boomerang, after all the surrounding hype, and I did enjoy it for the most part. And that was due mostly to the banter between the two main characters more so than the actual romance, even though Ethan was super cute and hot.
This time around I wasn’t extremely happy with the pairing but I was like, hey, why not give Alison a chance to redeem herself and all that? And why not let it happen with the CEO of Boomerang and the guy who intrigued me from the first book, Adam.
For the most part it was a little hard for me to like Alison as she wasn’t the nicest person when she was first introduced. But maybe I just feel that way because I’m not big on infidelity plot lines and the characters involved because that is just another hard limit for me. And any of her interactions with Mia came off as, well, awkward and uncomfortable. Then again it can’t be easy befriending the girl your ex is with even if you were to blame for losing him in the first place.
But aside from that Alison and Adam as a couple wasn’t that hard to get on board with. However, Adam went from this super serious guy to this almost different guy when he fell for Alison. And that I did not expect. And also the fact that their relationship didn’t start on the best of terms as Alison was trying to prove to her father that she was good enough and doing so meant going after Adam’s business and livelihood. But I am always in the mood for a little forbidden-esque romance.
While for me this wasn’t as light and fluffy as Boomerang, I did still enjoy it because of the writing. The writing just sucks you in and before you know it you’re a quarter of the way through in no time. This one seemed a bit shorter than the first book but it was still a good read overall. Looking forward to the next book as this series just has this feel good appeal to it. My only major issue is that this was very light on the NA in my opinion. But then again not all NA has to be down and dirty, but I do appreciate a little more sexy times. ;)
