I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affects my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

If I thought that Own The Wind was good – and I so did – then my mind was even more so blown by how awesome this second book in the Chaos series was, and I’m not even kidding. While Own The Wind featured a more younger pair of lovers, Fire Inside really fired things up for me as a reader – no pun intended – with an older and way more experienced couple that were just so explosively hot together. Plus add in the fact that Hop Kincaid is just so… yeah. He’s a biker for the Chaos gang and he is a pretty imposing figure with his leather and looks and his ride.

We previously met the heroine of this story, Lanie Heron, back in Motorcycle Man. And while I didn’t really see her being a leading lady in a story of her very own, I’m glad that Kristen Ashley decided to take that chance and try to give Lanie her own HEA. However, for those of you who did not read Motorcycle Man, Lanie was Cherry’s bff, whose significant other got into a whole heap of trouble while trying to make enough money to give her one hell of a wedding and got tangled up with the Russian mob. Well… that didn’t work out well and ended with him dead and Lanie shot.

Cut to present day and it’s been a couple years since that whole fiasco and Lanie decides that she needs to live again – and she wants to do that living with none other than Hop Kincaid. She’s been noticing him and he’s been noticing her. So Lanie decides that Hop is the guy she wants to spend one, smoking hot night with and forget all her heartbreak and the problems that go with them. She’s not looking for love or a relationship because she can’t go there again. She can’t take that risk of putting her heart on the line and she definitely isn’t willing to put her life on the line. Again.

But that is so much easier said than done. Hop Kincaid has had his fair share of female company since he joined Chaos, and Lanie is so not the type that he goes for, ever. She’s too put together and prim and proper, while he’s a biker that’s lived a hard life. But there comes a point in every man’s life that he feels the need to find himself a good woman to settle down with and become his “old lady”.

Once Hop has had a taste of Lanie, he can’t resist going back for more – even when she says that it was just a one time thing. He’s so not falling for that line. Not at his age, nope.

He begins to really see that he wants in for the long haul with Lanie, but that will take a lot of time and patience on his part, and let’s be real, what biker do you know in the Chaos gang that has a ton of patience… or even a minuscule amount? Well, apparently that guy is known as Hop Kincaid.

He’s so willing and open to let Lanie have her time dealing with the after-effects of a relationship really gone bad. He also doesn’t take no for an answer quite so easily. Hop is one guy willing to stick it out in order to get his girl and I had to admire that about him.

All I can say is that this was one sizzling hot story. I honestly hadn’t expected it to be so much better than the first in the Chaos series. I had taken awhile to actually read it and then once I picked it up I couldn’t put it down! I read it in one sitting and didn’t regret a thing. For me, Kristen Ashley can write bad boy biker stories all the damn time. The story was intense and emotional and just grabs you. I especially like the fact that these two aren’t a younger couple now starting out and having no clue how to proceed in the real world. It’s not all fun and games and reckless behavior… at least not much. Hop is a biker, yeah, but he’s also a dad to two teens – and a pretty great dad at that. I respected that very much. While Lanie may not have been my favorite at the beginning I really grew to like her as the story progressed.

Overall, this is one story that you’d want to pick up if you’re into sexy, biker romances, that have a touch of suspense to them. I promise you won’t regret it.
