I have to admit that I haven’t read much–if any–Paranormal Themed New Adult books, so when the opportunity came around I decided to take a chance since I’m a big fan of paranormal books. I have to say that I rather enjoyed this quite a bit! The summary was the deciding factor in whether I read it or not but the characters and the writing style and the storyline–which was rather cool–made me really love Playing Hooky.

As novella’s go, it was fast-paced and action-packed and it went by so fast that when it ended I was like, gimme more now! I need more of this series! I want more of the cute and fun characters, Emma and Jason, and their obviously smoldering chemistry, which they insist on denying. Sigh.

The two of them have some serious history, they’ve been friends since they were kids and now as young adults they are the very best of friends and I really appreciated their kind of relationship. As I mentioned before, they have this obvious chemistry and I can’t wait to see them get together and become more to each other. That growth of their relationship will be an amazing thing to read about. The banter between the two of them was lighthearted and funny and I just couldn’t get enough!

As for the storyline, Emma and Jason are introduced to this whole new world of interesting creatures that they had no idea actually existed, like, Witches and Unicorns and the like. I liked the whole mix of paranormal creatures that were included in this novella. This fun story is very much engaging and enjoyable from start to finish and I can’t wait to read the next installment!
