It’s always so hard for me to review a novella because I feel that by the time I get through with the review that I’ve gone and told the readers everything about the story. Not only did I love this novella, but it left me wanting more and not in the usual way. Most of the short stories I’ve read left me feeling like the characters needed to be fleshed out more and that the story was constricted by time restraints. But in Breathless we already know a lot about Nick and his family from the previous installments in the Elemental series.

I am so happy that Quinn was dealt with and her family life was explained more. She had come across – to me at least – as an annoying side character that I wished would go away. When Nick hooked up with Quinn I literally cringed while flipping through my Kindle.

I loved the glimpse inside of Nick’s head. I don’t really want to say too much, but I liked with how the story developed and how the story progressed. It didn’t feel rushed or contrived. I can’t wait for Spirit and oh, hell, the rest of this fantastic series. If you’ve read the previous books, Breathless is without a doubt a must-read.
