You’d probably say that I chose this book because of the attractive cover and the obvious title, and you’d probably be right. I did choose this book thinking that I was in the mood for something hot and adult and quick to read. However, you’d be wrong.
This was a lot more than just hot and sexy and, pretty much steamy too. There was an actual story with actual people that I cared for. I will say that for me Gabe really stole the show. He was a pretty damn cool hero. I had read the summary and expected that he wasn’t the clean cut brother that the heroine had wanted, but he was seriously intriguing and multifaceted.
Elle Walser is pretty much a proper little thing who is into the “bad boy” type. It’s just that after falling for her first boyfriend – who into fit into that category – and he took her virginity and broke her heart in the worst way, she’s decided to swear off of the type that she prefers and goes after what her mother deems as “proper”.
So Elle does something that is so out of character because she’s finally decided that she needs to hook this perfect, together, clean cut guy that her mother would approve of by seducing her boss at the art gallery where she works. When Elle finally gets the gall to do it and makes her way into Nathan’s – her boss – room and crawls into the bed while she sees that he’s asleep and begins to touch him and other things, it turns out not to be Nathan. Surprise!
And trust me, she rather enjoyed her surprise. Ahem.
I’ll admit that part was freaking hot, but also a laugh out loud moment for me. It was expected, but also unexpected at the same time. I knew what was going to happen. I just didn’t know it was going to go down like that. Gabe is not your usual rough & tough, tatted-up dude. He’s got depth, he’s funny and hot and caring and hot. Did I mention hot? Yeah…
Also, it turns out that while he has an affinity for getting tattoos and giving them, Elle also has a thing for ink, too. So the prim and proper miss likes to play on the dark side, however, she doesn’t have any. She and Gabe were able to connect on that level of things that they had in common, even though Elle was slightly reluctant. She just needed to realize that sometimes, you just can’t fight what’s meant to be. Their journey to a happily ever after ending was definitely a great ride.
I’d definitely recommend lovers of a good contemporary romance novel to take a chance on this story and pick up a copy. It’s definitely well worth your time. I was certainly surprised by how much I ended up liking it.
